In India - 2nd October is celeberated as National Festival because this is Birthday of Great Mr. Mohandas Karamchandra Gandhi ( Mahatma Gandhi).
But current generation thinks-:
Birthday of Mahtama Gandhi -- "Chal Bhai Ek Din Ki Leave to Mili , Dry day hai to Kya Hua, 10 baje tak Soyenge aur Aish karenge".
Gandhi Ji Aap Dhanya ho.
